Sapienza University of Rome, founded in 1303 by Pope Boniface VIII, is the second largest University in Europe: out of the 112.000 and more students enrolled, around 8.000 come from foreign countries with 1.500 incoming and 1.700 outgoing exchange students each year; 11 faculties covering almost all scientific and social areas in 60 departments; more than 4.700 professors and researchers and 4.300 administrative and technical staff. Sapienza offers a vast array of courses: around 270 degree programs at Bachelor and Master level, 80 PhD courses, more than 200 one to two year long lasting professional courses and around 70 Specialization Schools, 35 Bachelor and Master degree programs taught in English, and many English-taught single courses in various disciplines. Sapienza is also an active member of several international networks such as COURSERA, UNICA, UNIMED, the SANTANDER GROUP. For a long time, the University has been engaged in an extensive range of international cooperation projects and actions with almost every geographical area of the world.
DICMA (Department of Chemical Engineering Materials Environment) associates faculties and researchers conducting research and technological innovation in the fields of process, materials, environmental and safety engineering, entrusted with the training of chemical, environmental and safety engineering students as well as the qualification of research professionals through doctoral courses in chemical, materials and nanotechnology engineering. In addition, the efficiency and functionality of the department are ensured by the highly professional technical and administrative staff.
